The Needlework Show

April 16th, 2014
Comments Off on The Needlework Show

Big News! I am truly “un-retired”. Yep! I’m back. I start my “come back” by showing my designs in the on-line needle work show. I have been working like a crazy woman trying to get a new sampler completed by the start of the show. It has been fun.

Anyway, I will be showing my designs in the Needlework Show. You can check mine and other designer work out here… http://www.needleworkshow.com

Something else that’s new; If you prefer to have paper charts rather than downloadable PDF’s you can purchase them from your favorite needlework shop. Just let them know what you would like. But, as usual, my designs in the JAT store are only available in PDF format from me. You can click on the link in the top margin to enter the store and check everything out.

And during show dates, April 17th, 2014 through April 22nd, 2014 any purchase you make from me (your entire purchase) will be discounted 10%. So if you see something you like today, wait until the 17th to order.

One last thing….It’s nice to be back. Hugs

P.S. Here’s a sneak peek at my new sampler, Peace In The Valley. Don’t tell….it’s a secret until tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™‚

A New Design

Comments Off on A New Design

Want to see a beautiful new box I designed. It was supposed to be a jewelry box but ended up just a needle work box, or treasure box, or whatever. I think it turned out just beautiful although it did take a million yards of ribbon and a zillion beads. But now that I have finished it, it was worth it. ๐Ÿ™‚

My Treasures Workstation – Re-visited

March 8th, 2012
Comments Off on My Treasures Workstation – Re-visited

I have just finished revising the “My Treasures Workstation” class that I had a few years back. This was a class project only. There was a wooden base for the workstation at the time. I decided that it was time to release it via my JAT store now. To do so I had to design a bottom that you could all finish without needing to have the wooden base (of which I don’t have now). Two wonderful stitchers agreed to stitch it for me and I have added pictures below. Both are beautiful and you can see how the color gives both workstations a totally different look. So for those that were not able to join in on the class you can now purchase this design project through the JAT store. Click on “Shop” in the top menu. If you live outside the USA and would like to purchase this design you will need to email me directly because the store has a problem with overseas orders. I will send you a paypal invoice personally that you can use to order the PDF.

Just in case you have forgotten what the workstation looks like….here are some pictures with the new bottom. Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh, I forgot; it reads; My treasures I must leave behind. Remember me if this you find.

IT’S A MYSTERY: On another thought….I am setting up a class on the JAT message board. It is “Shelley’s Treasure Box”. You know, the one I have been talking about forever. Well, I have the front and back stitched and the rest designed but I can’t seem to get motivated to finish it. Sooooooooo…I figured it was time to have a class and let you all help motivate me. The class will be free….yep…I will repeat it. The class will be free. But here is the catch, it is for those of you that have stuck with me while I have been away. Since you keep checking back and/or signed up for my newsletter I decided you needed to be rewarded for all your patience with me. And here is how it will work…I will release it in sections as I complete it. We will stitch it and then we will finish it. And then it will be GONE! Just like that….GONE! So what you have to do now is go onto the message board, scroll down to “classes” and read more about how the class will be run. Easy, Peasy and fun. Oh, I will describe the box to you all on the message board. Interested! I hope so. It is going to be large, beautiful and an original for sure. Just wait and see….you will be sorry if you miss it. But if you do, I will be offering it for retail sale on my JAT message board as soon as the class ends. So, get it free as a group class project or purchase it at a later date. Either way, I guarantee you are going to love this project. Do you trust me…mahahahahahahaaaaa!

Mary Wigham Wardrobe

Comments Off on Mary Wigham Wardrobe

Hello again. Wow, another post already. ๐Ÿ™‚ The reason I am posting today is that I have decided to open up the class for the Mary Wigham Wardrobe once more. I have had so many requests for this wardrobe that I have decided to open the door to the class for a very short time. I very seldom re-visit a design so I thought that those interested in this wardrobe might like to take this opportunity to get it. I must tell you that the online finishing class will be this coming August 28, 2010 so you will probably not get your stitching completed in time to finish your wardrobe during class, but, you will be able to join the class and check out all the pictures of the different color linens and fibers that class members have chosen to use. There will be some beautiful finishes for sure. And, I am here for those late comers if you have any questions when you are ready to assemble your wardrobe.

So, one more time…if you would like to have this Mary Wigham Wardrobe this is your chance to get it and join in the fun in the JAT online class. I am sorry, kits are no longer available but the supplies needed for finishing your wardrobe are available in the JAT store. You can email me at JudyOdell@justathought.net if you are interested in getting into this class and I will get you signed up. Hugs

Northwest Sampler Guild – Ribbons and Roses

Comments Off on Northwest Sampler Guild – Ribbons and Roses

I told you I would be posting class pictures soon. Sorry it has taken so long but I wanted to let the NSG announce it first. I thought it only fair. ๐Ÿ™‚ But here it is. The class will be an online class, as usual, except it will be released all at once so you can go at your own pace. We will still have the sharing and chatting. For information about the class itself you will have to go to Northwest Sampler Guild for details. But for those curious folks, not stitcher’s of course ๐Ÿ™‚ , here are some pictures. Title: Ribbons and Roses – Scissor Safe Workstation. The little cubbies you see inside the cabinet move from side to side so you can add your scissor fob if you want, and get into each cubby easily. Enjoy…

Please note:ย  I am receiving a lot of interest in this design and I wanted to let you all know that I will be adding some definate information for everyone in a couple days.ย  I am sorry for the delay but Moosie is doing some major updating of my blog right now and I just cannot add anything until it is complete.ย  Please be patient with me and check back in a couple days. Thank you all so much.

A Tribute to Mary Wigham and all the girls of Ackworth school. Can you imagine how surprised Mary would be to find out that she has a wardrobe. Well, kind of. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the wardrobe. I think Mary would too.
I will post all the information regarding this wardrobe on my Designs page as soon as possible. For now I will give you just a minimal of information.
This will be released as a private class in PDF sections on my JAT Message board. The class will be limited in size but don’t worry if you don’t get in on this one as I will probably have another class approximately a year after this first class is completed. The cost of the class includes the stitch design and finishing class which will be released in monthly sections. I will have a very limited kit available which will include the stitching linen, decorative fabric and silk satin ribbon. Ok, enough talk about it….lets see Mary Wigham’s Wardrobe closet.

I shall post more about the class kit and the cost once I post the design page. Thanks everyone.

Happy Nashville

Comments Off on Happy Nashville

Hmmmmm….is Nashville a holiday. I have thought and heard so much about it lately that I am thinking it must be a holiday. So…HAPPY NASHVILLE everyone. ๐Ÿ™‚

This year I sent two new designs to Nashville. I have been patiently waiting to release them here on my site. I have not added them to my design page as yet. I have been busy getting the Mary Wigham design completed and had no time to take care of these Nashville babies. But I will be posting the MWW design a little later today and I shall try to get all three new designs and information about them on my design page as soon as possible.

So now…here are my Nashville releases. They are available from me as a PDF or paper. Your favorite needle work shop can get them in paper format only.
This is “Savannah” Just A Box; #2 in the collectible series.

As usual you are encouraged to pick your own color linen and fibers but my choices are listed for you, just in case. My next design is honoring my Dad. I stitched this knowing I wanted to frame it… so I give you the design as it will look in my shadow box. “In My Father’s Name”.

I hope you like my new releases and even if you don’t I shall be back shortly with the Mary Wigham release. Hugs

Un Natale daRicamare 2009 Christmas Magazine

Comments Off on Un Natale daRicamare 2009 Christmas Magazine

The beautiful Italian magazine Un Natale daRicamare is now available. Well it has been for awhile I guess but I am just getting around to mentioning it. It is available at many of our favorite shops and if your favorite shop does not have it just ask and they can get it for you.

This is my very small contribution to this wonderful Christmas magazine. But believe me…some of the designers really out did themselves. There are some beautiful ornaments in this book just waiting for you.

Five Penny Millionaire Treasure Box

<img border="0"src="http://www.justathought.net/bb/download/images/5PM_penny_card_blog.jpg"&qt;

Hey everyone ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you like my newest design. “Five Penny Millionaire” treasure box. I was going to offer this class as a private class only but I have changed my mind. Instead I have decided to release this design as a design exclusive, available through “Just A Thought” only. I will set up a Forum on the JAT message board for those stitchers that like to share their progress with other stitchers that may be stitching the same design.

The idea for this design came to me as I was huming a song from a movie my mom took me to many years ago.ย  It was 1959 and the movie was “Five Pennies”.ย  Danny Kaye stared in the movie and I memorized the song those many years ago and never forgot it.

Now here it is for you today.ย  “Five Pennies”.ย  Well actually it is a treasure box that holds the five little penny cards and pennies.

May you and those you love always be a “Five Penny Millionaire”.

Days Gone By

Comments Off on Days Gone By

<img border="0"src="http://www.justathought.net/bb/download/images/Days_Gone_By%20035_blog.jpg"&qt;

This is my newest design. I called it “Days Gone By” because as I was stitching it I kept seeing a western dad handing a beautiful little box (that he got while he was in town) to his little daughter. She had dark hair, long braids and dirty little finger nails but she took it with awe because it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She kept only her most wonderful and private treasures in it from that day forward.

Days Gone By is the first in a series of collectable boxes that I plan to design. They will all be different in the stitch design, shape and size. Each will have a character of its own and I may even call upon my JAT board members to share the story they see when they look at each box. They will be rewarded of course. ๐Ÿ™‚ I do love the rewards.

We have also started our tin Christmas exchange for 2009. We have a group of over 40 stitchers. Can you believe that. You still have time to join the exchange so check into the message board and sign up. You can read more about it once you are there.

I am going to stitch a little fob for a thread grabber that my dear friend Lynne B. sent to me. She designed the little fob and once it is stitched and finished I shall post both pieces with news about where you can purchase the thread grabber and get the fob design for free. By-the-way, Lynne is the owner of Blessings Counted, Inc. and the designer of the “original” French Alphabet Sampler (FAS) that we have all fallen in love with. It is personalized with family initials and names and each one is individually charted for each stitcher. You can go to Elegant Stitch to read more about the FAS Sampler. You will love it.
